Welcome to the Tanner lab!

The chair for Cell Biology and Plant Physiology within the Institute of Botany at the University of Regensburg exists since 1970. Until 2006 the chair was occupied by Widmar Tanner, who recently was succeeded by Thomas Dresselhaus.

The main research topics in all these years have been protein glycosylation as well as membrane transport. A small, only officially retired group is now working in cooperation with scientists of the Czech Academy of Sciences on the phenomenon of lateral membrane compartmentation, mainly in yeast cells.
