Photophysical and Photochemical Studies on Open-Chain Tetrapyrrole Complexes

This project will focus on the coordination chemistry and redox reactivity of linear oligopyrrole complexes and their precursor compounds in the context of natural and biomimetic systems related to bilirubin, biliverdin and carbon monoxide releasing biomolecules. Included are synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, electrochemical and photochemical investigation of novel metal complexes and their potential application in redox catalysis and molecular photomedicine.
Keywords: Porphyrins, Bile Pigments, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Photochemistry
