Research in the Biophysics II / Department of Structural Biology focuses on the structure and function of membrane proteins and macromolecular complexes, which are involved in stress-regulated and stress-activated transport processes across the membrane. Besides X-ray crystallography, SAXS, and electron microscopy we apply a variety of different biophysical and biochemical techniques to characterize the function of membrane proteins in order to elucidate their molecular mechanism. |
